45 Luxembourg II Catherine Thiry Andrés Lejona 04 03 Ces travaux constituent la première phase d’un projet de développement urbain dans un tissu historique qui préconise la densifica- tion des habitations le long du parc Odendahl et de l’Alzette jusqu’à la place Vauban. These transformation works are the first phase of an urban development project in a historical urban infrastructure which advocates the densification of housings along the Odendahl park and the Alzette up to the Vauban square. Pôle d’échange multimodal au cœur de la ville, la nouvelle gare se compose d’une station basse, au pied du pont Grande- Duchesse Charlotte, reliée par des escaliers et des ascenseurs à la rue Saint-Mathieu. La station haute, en relation directe avec l’arrêt de tram, se situe au carrefour entre la Cour de justice de l’Union européenne et la Philharmonie, ajoutant ainsi un attrait touristique au projet. Les deux stations sont reliées par un double funiculaire afin d’at- teindre la capacité de transport nécessaire. Le funiculaire s’insère harmonieusement dans le paysage et son tracé respecte les chemins et la végétation existants. The new station is a multimodal transport hub at the heart of the city, consisting of a lower station, at the foot of the Grande- Duchesse Charlotte bridge, linked to Rue Saint-Mathieu by a series of steps and lifts, and an upper station, with direct access to the tram stop, located at the crossroads between the Court of Justice of the European Union and the Philharmonie, and bringing a certain tourist appeal to the project. Both stations are connected by a double funicular to reach the necessary transport capacity. The funicular fits harmoniously into the land- scape and its route respects existing paths and vegetation.
